Ethics + Sustainability
Each bag is handcrafted from eco-leather which means that a host of harmful chemicals are avoided. Instead, the method of vegetable tanning is used making the leather environmentally friendly and biodegradable. The use of chrome, heavy metals, formaldehyde and a host of other chemicals that are harmful to humans and to the environment is avoided. Also, the leather used is a byproduct of the food industry and we aim to reduce waste by recycling leather cuttings into our designs so nothing is gone to waste.
Each bag is handcrafted by skilled artisans in a safe and healthy environment in the city of Kolkata, India. Fair wages are paid, education aid is offered and health benefits are provided. As makers we have the power to make careful decisions about who and what we support. We are proud of collaborating with our friends in India.
